2 Bandits Northern Lights Collection Spring ’14

Chloe Norgaard… Chloe Norgaard… Chloe Norgaard.  That is the name of this pink hued dame who as you may have noticed has not only been featured on our blog numerous times but is taking the fashion industry by storm.  We just can’t get enough… especially when she’s decked out in San Francisco-based 2 Bandits pieces.  We’ve been fans of the brand for quite some time.  Maybe because they are constantly coming out with jewelry that is DOPE.  So until we get our hands on the goods… we’ll settle for a little day dreaming.

How picture perfect is this family??  Let’s first discuss the majorly adorbs styling done here by Sheree Commerford, brainchild behind Captain and the Gypsy Kid.  I meeeaaaan… those little girls are too cool for school with their rocker tees and pink tutus.  Pretty sure when we were little tykes our pops was dressing us in matching 80’s sweatshirts with our pants pulled up to our chins (we were so cool).  Needless to say we don’t get our fashion sense from our dad.  As previously mentioned… we are suckers for a guy with motorcycle (hint, hint).  So the fact that this family… with its perfect mom and two perfect converse-clad girls also includes a perfect bike ridin’ father figure makes us swoon.  Side Note:  Totes stealing Mama Bear’s style.  #sorrynotsorry

Elle France March 2014

(Photographer: Jan Welters, Model: Anne Vyalitsyna

Ever since Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Pre-Fall 2014 western inspired collection we’ve noticed the trend popping up all over.  Not that we mind.  We’re totes into the denim on denim, layered up flannels, suspenders, belts, fringe.  We’re eating it up.  Which is why we love this editorial in the latest Elle France issue featuring hottie Anne Vyalitsyna (that last name is a mouthful… and we thought ours was bad).  And while we are finding ourselves loving the Canadian tuxedo look more and more… our favorite look has to be the denim skirt with the black sheer fringy, beaded top… hellooooo gorgeous.

Elle Spain

(Model: Anna Selezneva, Photographer: Mario Sierra, Styling: Inmaculada Jimenez)

Tuxedo trousers, denim overals, boyfriend jeans, tailored sweats… all pieces we’ve grown to know and love… all inspired by the boys.  This tomboy inspired shoot for Elle Spain has bombshell Anna Selezneva posing in a Madrid train station in some seriously edgy, sexy, cool separates.  We love the styling done here by Inmaculada Jiminez… pure genius.  And featuring some of our favorite heavy hitter designers – Louis Vuitton (yes!), Givenchy (big time!), and Balmain (dying!).  This editorial has us freshly inspired.  Sometimes a girl just wants to be… one of the boys.

Free People March ’14 Lookbook

(Actors: Erin Wasson & Mark Wystrach)

Free People… this brand never ceases to amaze us.  And throwing mega-babe Erin Wasson into the mix just makes this lookbook that much better.  Not to mention the hottie who whisks her for a romantic road trip.  We’ve always been suckers for a boy with a Harley.  Come on, what girl doesn’t want a cute boy, a motorcycle, and a getaway (big time jelly)?  We’re loving the maxi dresses, body chains and free spirited vibe of the looks… reminds us that Coachella is just around the corner.  Time to start wardrobe planning!  After a big Oscar weekend, award season is winding down and we’re looking forward to a little bit of music festival goodness.

“You didn’t love her.  You just didn’t want to be alone.  Or maybe, maybe she was good for your ego.  Or, or maybe she made you feel better about your miserable life, but you didn’t love her, because you don’t destroy the person that you love.”– Greys Anatomy

-oil pulling-

ImageNew year, new city, new jobs = NEW HABITS! While one of us continues to rock the fashion world (fittings for the Oscars all week), the other has taken her medical career down a new path. The path, is that of holistic health, and along with it lots of new tips and tricks for us to share with you guys. Oil pulling….have you heard of it? And will you try it?

Oil pulling is an ancient practice of swishing oil in your mouth for detox and rejuvenation. Our new Boss lady, Dr. Kim was the first to introduce this method to us last week (#debbiekimapproved) and it has been quite an experience. Studies show that oil pulling has excellent benefits for oral health. It can help strengthen the teeth, gums, and jaw; a natural teeth whitener; prevents bad breath; prevents dryness of the mouth, lips, and throat; prevents mouth diseases like cavities and gingivitis; and treats soreness of the jaw. It’s also been thought that oil pulling has many benefits that extend way beyond oral health. Examples include reduced headaches, hangover relief, kidney function support, general pain relief, reduced insomnia, and general detoxification of the body, just to name a few.

First, pick your oil. Dr. Kim recommends coconut oil or sesame seed oil. There are many others to chose from, but these are believed to be the best for the practice. Oil pulling can be done at any time of the day, but it is best to do each morning before eating for a more thorough detox.  To start, drink a glass of water. Use about a tablespoon (or less) of the oil of your choosing. If the oil is cold or solid, let it melt in your mouth. It’s recommended to swish the oil in your mouth for 20 minutes, no gargling! But lets be honest, ain’t no one got time for that! Five to 10 minutes will do. When your time is up, spit the oil in the trash or toilet. Avoid the sink because it could solidify and clog the drain. Finally, drink a glass of water and enjoy feeling fresh and rejuvenated each morning. We hope you guys enjoy this new practice as much as we do! Happy pulling dolls!

C A M P Collection SS14 Lookbook

(Photographer: Jason Lee Perry, Model: Cora Keegan, Styling: Paul Bui)

Brought to you by the creator of The 2 Bandits, is the… DUN Dun Dunn… Camp Collection.  Based out of San Francisco, this line is all about the outdoors, Backyard BBQ’s and cozy comforts.  The line is inspired by the summer camp, designer and founder Wider, went to as a young tyke.  The pieces are meant to take you back to summer… to relaxation… to tubing down the river with the sun shining on your face.  All ruffles, jumpers and muted plaids, we can see how this collection can make one all nostalgic for another time.  One day, maybe, we’ll be back to the prairie and rolling hills… but for now, we are navigating our way through this concrete jungle.  We’re not going to lie LA… We’ve been pleasantly surprised.

It’s no secret that we are slightly obsessed with the athletic inspired trend on and off the runway lately.  What better excuse to exercise some of the things we’ve learned this last season than with the upcoming SuperBowl?  If you’re like us and don’t actually care who wins (sorry, not sorry), then you’ll be more concerned with the halftime show, the hilarious commercials that also make us want to cry or which player’s butt looks better in those super tight pants.  And of course, what to wear for the big day.  For this week’s Friday Muse, we’re looking to all of our top fashion bloggers for some sporty chic inspiration.  In our book, these leading ladies #nailedit!  Obviously there is nothing better than an old jersey or vintage crew neck sweatshirt.  Whether your rocking blue and orange or blue and silver, throw on some converse sneakers and your favorite baseball hat to complete the look. #touchdown.

The ocean has never been something that was easily accessible to us.  Coming from the mid-west, we’re surrounded by land on all four sides.  Now that we’re in California, the ocean is no longer a distant dream.  It’s in our back yard… it’s down the street… around the corner.  Which is why we are so excited to be a part of this non-profit movement.  Project Mermaids, founded by photographers Angelina Venturella and Chiara Salomoni, is dedicated to protecting our oceans and beaches.  Angelina and Chiara have dedicated a year of their lives to this project… recruiting celebrities like Bella Thorne and Vanessa Hudgens as their subjects and Eric Ducharme, master mertailor extraordinaire to create and donate the beautiful tails.  The proceeds raised from their Table Book and Art Show are being donated to the Save Our Beach organization.  You can help them finish their project by donating to their Kickstarter.
